WW1 Trio (Stears, R.N. Submariner) 135.00

Awarded to 232421 Herbert Seymour Thomas Stears Able Seaman, later Leading Seaman, Royal Navy. Born 1889 Woolwich, Kent, Stears joined the Royal Navy in 1904 as a Boy 1st. Class. He served on a number of ships before the outbreak of war and was involved in the seizure of the battleship HMS Agincourt from the Turkish Navy in August 1914. The following year he joined the Submarine Service and was later one of the original crew members of the Submarine K14. Herbert Stears also served on E27 before re-joining HMS Lucia and then HMS Dolphin. He was demobilised ashore in May 1919 and died aged 72 in 1961, Poplar. First World War Submariners medal groups are hard to find, comes with copy of papers etc.
