Q.S.A. (6 Battle Bars, Kenyon, R.F.A.) 265.00

Queens South Africa Medal with bars for - Relief Of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill and Wittebergen. Awarded to 73390 Cpl. John Kenyon, 76th. Battery Royal Field Artillery. Born in St. John's, Bolton, Lancashire in 1871. Kenyon was a former plumber who had previously served in the 3/4 th. Lancashire Fusiliers. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery in 1889 at Preston. After almost two years of home service Kenyon was sent to India for six years were he sustained a contused wound to the right leg on duty in February 1895. After being transferred to 1st class Army reserve John Kenyon was recalled to Army service late in 1899 and on the 1st. January 1900 he was sent to South Africa to fight in the Boer War for just over two years. He was discharged in May 1902. Comes with copy of service papers and medal rolls which show the entitlement to all the bars on the medal.
